Legislative updates and supplementary information :
The statutory minimum wage came into effect on May 1, 2011. From May 1, 2023, the statutory minimum wage level will be raised to HK$40 per hour.
Violations and Penalties
If an employer intentionally and without reasonable excuse fails to pay wages to an employee on time, he or she may be prosecuted and, upon conviction, be liable to a maximum fine of $350,000 and imprisonment for three years.
