
The government announced the launch of the Re-employment Allowance Pilot Scheme (REA Scheme), which is open for registration from today.This Scheme is mainly aimed at individuals aged 40 or above who have not engaged in any paid work for more than three consecutive months. Participants who are able to work full-time for six consecutive months can receive a maximum allowance of HKD 10,000; if they work for 12 months, they can receive an additional HKD 10,000, totaling a maximum of HKD 20,000 in allowances. For part-time workers, the government also offers a half allowance.
Eligibility
1. Aged 40 or above
2. Legally employable in Hong Kong
3. Not engaged in any paid work in Hong Kong (including employment, self-employment and running a business) for 3 consecutive months or more before joining the Scheme
Registration
Online registration on the webpage of the Scheme, with the assistance of the service organisations commissioned by the Labour Department, or submission of paper-based registration form
Application Procedures
Participants who register for the Scheme will seek employment through various channels, including job matching provided by the service organizations.
After commencement employment, participants must report the successful employment to the service organization within one month.
After completing six consecutive months of work, participants need to submit the first reemployment allowance application form through the service organization within two months.
Subsequently, after completing twelve consecutive months of work, participants must submit the second reemployment allowance application form through the service organization within two months.
